Thanos (Josh Brolin) might have wiped out so many members of the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy along with half of the universe's living population in Avengers: Infinity War, but fans are holding on to Doctor Strange's (Benedict Cumberbatch) foreseen possibility wherein the Avengers win against the Mad Titan.
However, while many expect the remaining Marvel heroes to turn things around in Avengers 4, some are wondering just how Doctor Strange will play part in the undoing of Thanos' massacre.
After all, the Sorcerer Supreme did turn into dust along with Spider-Man (Tom Holland), Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and all the others in Avengers: Infinity War.
With more than six months to go before the release of Avengers 4, fans have been busy cooking up theories about how Captain America (Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and the others might be able to turn the tide.
Examining points in Infinity War, a new theory on Reddit suggests that Doctor Strange's sacrifice serves as a pivotal element in the Avengers victory over the Mad Titan.
According to the theory, when Doctor Strange viewed all the 14 million alternate outcomes of the fight between the Avengers and Thanos, the single possibility where the team would win was one that involved the soul world and the quantum realm.
Here's the rest of the theory:
"Once Doctor Strange is in the soul world, he quickly finds a way out but only into the quantum realm where he will find Ant-man and use Scott to send a message to Tony. Similar to how Janet did in the Ant-man movie. Scott will end up using a time vortex to escape the quantum realm and accidentally end up years in the future, he will seek out Tony Stark and tell him about the time vortexes within the quantum realm. Tony will use his B.A.R.F tech on Scott to explore the quantum realm through Scott's memories of being there. Where he will stumble on to Doctor strange showing him which time vortex to use to go back in time and telling him about everyone being trapped in the soul world. Giving Tony the motivation and drive he needs to save everyone."
It's a likely theory. After all, Doctor Strange knew that the only way for the team to survive was for him to die and enter the soul world. The theory also makes use of the Quantum Realm, an alternate dimension fans have long since suspected would play a major part in Avengers 4.
