Netflix might have dominated the streaming game for years, but it looks like the company is losing a number of longtime subscribers.
Kill the Cable Bill just recently conducted a survey asking 1000 netizens who've recently cancelled out their Netflix subscriptions in the past few months, and according to the results of the study, most of these former subscribers decided to step out of the service because of the number of price hikes and because of the lack of compelling content.
The results of the survey show that 63% of the participants of the study have been subscribed to Netflix for more than a year before deciding to cancel their membership. This shows readers that users have been growing tired of Netflix's streaming platform over time.
Though this normally shouldn't happen for Netflix, it seems like the price hike has been making many rethink their position on the streaming platform.
The site asked the participants of the survey the reasons why they decided to leave Netflix, and 49% responded that their decision to leave was directly influenced by the increase in the monthly rate of subscription. Right now, the most common subscription package for Netflix comes at $13.
Another 42% of those surveyed answered that it was the "lack of interesting content" that made them decide to end their relationship with the site. Meanwhile, 40% answered that other streaming services convinced them to leave Netflix.
Right now, Netflix is facing several other competitors in the market. Disney just recently launched its own streaming site, Disney+, a platform offering original content from both Star Wars and Marvel. WarnerMedia is also planning to launch HBOMax next year.
Are you still on Netflix? Are you planning to leave the site? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
