Netflix's Bright Sequel Gets Delayed Over Will Smith's Schedule

It may not have been a huge success but the Netflix sci-fi film Bright is still getting a sequel. Unfortunately, the second movie has been delayed indefinitely due to Will Smith's busy schedule.

Lucy Fry, who played the elf Tikka in the first Bright film, recently spoke to Comicbook.com about the highly anticipated sequel. According to Fry, the movie was already set to begin production earlier this year but that was pushed aside since Smith was unavailable.

"We were going to do it this year, and then it didn't happen because of Will's schedule," Fry said. "And I really hope they do another one because I had so much fun making that movie. So, I just hope we get to do it again."

It sounds like the future isn't so bright, doesn't it? Smith was expected to reprise his role as Daryl Ward in the sequel, he instead began working on Bad Boys for Life earlier this year. Smith was also confirmed to be bowing out of The Suicide Squad which should clear his schedule for Bright 2. Unfortunately, that hasn't happened yet.

For now, fans are hoping that Bright 2 will eventually begin production. However, it's probably best not to hold your breath on a sequel unless a new announcement is made.

Bright also starred Joel Edgerton as Nick Jacoby, an orc who becomes the first police officer who ends up being partnered with Smith's Ward. Although David Ayer directed the first movie, it is still unclear if he will work on the sequel.
