The highly-anticipated live-action adaptation of the Nickelodeon show, Avatar: The Last Airbender is still under development by streaming service, Netflix. Now that a live-action ATLA is officially coming to Netflix, the upcoming show is surrounded by high expectations especially because it will be the second attempt at a live-action reboot. Back in 2010, director M. Night Shyamalan tried to turn the ATLA into a live-action film but eventually faced harsh reviews from both critics and fans.

Fortunately, Netflix can redeem the Nickelodeon show in the upcoming series, and based on the recent rumors from production, the series already looks promising. Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender will star Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio Tarbell as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas James Liu as Zuko, and Elizabeth Yu as Azula. ATLA Season 1 will also reportedly feature major characters from the Nickelodeon show, including Avatar Kyoshi, who will be played by Yvonne Chapman.

Yvonne Chapman sat down with Everything Zen ExtraZ, and discussed Netflix's upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender. While praising the film, the actress assures that the series won't disappoint the fans. Chapman says, "I can't say very much for this project, but I will say: from what I've seen, and my experience on the show, the fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender will not be disappointed with this live-action series. It looks phenomenal."

Netflix is widely known for its on-point live-adaptation of renowned animated series. Recent shows like Fate: The Winx Saga and Cowboy Bebop clearly imply that Netlfix isn't messing around. Chapman's comment solidifies that Avatar: The Last Airbender deserves the hype.

Referenced to the Nickelodeon origin, Netflix's ATLA should do better than the animated series. Recent news says that the show has a reported budget of $15 Million per episode, which is definitely something to look forward to. While the series is still under production, Chapman's comment that Avatar 'won't disappoint' certainly adds fuel to the fans' anticipation.

Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender is rumored to be pushing a late 2022 or 2023 release date.
