Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender Star Teases The Show's 'Phenomenal' Scale

Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender series is expected to meet fans' expectations with its stellar cast and big-budget productions, and now, one of the stars is teasing the epic scale of the new live-action adaptation. As production for the show continues in Atlanta, fans of the original Nickelodeon animated series have had numerous questions about the new adaptation, and it's clear that those involved in the show are hyped to bring this epic story to life.

Yvonne Chapman, who plays as Avatar Kiyoshi in the show, couldn't reveal much about what to expect from the series, but she recently talked about her role in Netflix's upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender series. Speaking to Everything Zen ExtraZ, Chapman teased a "phenomenal" adaptation

"I can't say very much for this project, but I will say: from what I've seen, and my experience on the show, the fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender will not be disappointed with this live-action series. It looks phenomenal," she said.

While Chapman didn't explain what this could mean for the series itself, the 33-year-old actress said that she knew about the books and stories about the famous Avatar and talked about the pressure of a fan-favorite character to life:

"I love the Kyoshi books– so addicted to those. Her backstory and just everything about this character is so beautifully written and really thoughtful. She just has one of the most fascinating stories of any character that I've read, so I definitely felt the pressure of being able to bring her to life and hopefully the fans respond in a really positive way. Luckily it's not just me at the helm, it's a team of people really wanting to get this right, and I hope we did. I think we did."

Here's an official description of the show from Netflix:"The series will be an authentic adaptation of the award-winning and beloved Nickelodeon animated series AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER reimagined as a live-action adventure. Albert Kim (Sleepy Hollow, Nikita) serves as showrunner, executive producer, and writer. Alongside Kim, Rideback's Dan Lin (The Lego Movie, Aladdin) and Lindsey Liberatore (Walker) serve as executive producers as well as Michael Goi (Swamp Thing, American Horror Story). Goi, Roseanne Liang (also a co-executive producer), Jabbar Raisani and Jet Wilkinson direct."
