Netflix Updating Binge-Watch Model For Weekly Releases

It looks like Netflix is going to make a few major changes to the way it offers content on its site.

While subscribers of the streaming site have gotten used to the company's habit of dropping all of the episodes of a new season for fans to binge, Netflix has begun considering changing its format.

According to a report by ComicBook.com, the company is changing its habit of dropping all of the episodes of a new season all at once, giving a few shows weekly releases. This new weekly format has been applied to the new season of The Great British Baking Show, the very first Netflix program to experience the weekly release treatment.

Netflix used to release all of the show's episodes all at once during earlier seasons, however, now that the streaming site it making changes to its format, fans following The Great Baking Show will surprisingly find only one episode listed down under Collection 7 of the series. The show has future episodes, however, the site has yet to release them, planning on dropping one new episode each week.

This might seem a bit disappointing to binge-watchers, however, releasing each episode weekly would allow viewers to keep up with the reality series the same way viewers normally do when they watch the show air on cable.

This new change hasn't just affected The Great British Baking Show. Netflix's other reality series, Rhythm and Flow, is also getting the weekly treatment. Now, the only question left is whether this new format might affect the site's other major series, like Stranger Things and GLOW.

What do you think of the new format? Do you like having weekly releases? Or would you rather binge-watch? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
