Netflix Still Expects To Renew Luke Cage For Season 3 Despite The Cancellation of Iron Fist

Netflix may have just recently disappointed Marvel fans after announcing that it had canceled Marvel TV's Iron Fist series, however, it seems like the company is still planning to renew Luke Cage for a third season on the site.

In its report regarding the cancellation of Iron Fist, Deadline included some information regarding the remaining Marvel TV series on Netflix, and according to the publication, Netflix is hoping to renew Luke Cage for another season. Though the company doesn't have a specific date regarding the confirmation of Luke Cage's season 3 renewal just yet, the news outlet says the announcement could come in "any day now."

While it's also likely that Netflix might change its mind in the coming weeks, the news that a renewal for Luke Cage has been expected certainly helps boost confidence over Mike Colter's return as the Power Man.

Of course, Netflix wouldn't want to leave Luke Cage hanging after the events of the series' second season. Luke's become the new king of the underworld in Harlem, and it looks like power is slowly corrupting Marvel's Power Man, leading him a darker path.

The third season of Luke Cage is going to explore Luke's struggle with power, giving fans a chance to see how the Power Man faces his new responsibility when he's been given the opportunity to sit at the very top seat of the underworld in Harlem.

Another exciting prospect is that if this new season for Luke Cage does push through, then Iron Fist's Danny Rand (Finn Jones) and Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick) might just be given the chance to make a few appearances in the series. After all, Netflix did say that while the Iron Fist series has been canceled, the Immortal Iron Fist still hasn't died out on his fans.
