Netflix Reveals Another He-Man Animated Series

It looks like Netflix is going all-in on He-Man as the streaming service has announced another new animated series based on Mattel's toys simply called He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Unlike the upcoming anime from Kevin Smith, Masters of the Universe: Revelation, this will be a CG animated series that seemingly retells the original story but with a modern edge. In comparison, Revelation will continue from the ending of the ‘80s show, at least that's what Smith stated.

Netflix released a new poster for this series and it looks pretty interesting, with He-Man clearly looking like an exaggerated muscular character, which is far from a bad thing. That always adds some fun character to these, well, characters, which is always great to see. CG animation can be hard to pull off but here's hoping they do something similar to Nickelodeon's previous Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series (not the current one).

Here's the synopsis (via Deadline):

"On the planet of Eternia, a young lost prince discovers the powers of Grayskull and transforms into He-Man, Master of the Universe! The classic battle between He-Man and evil Skeletor rages to new heights as both hero and villain forge new and mighty teams. A new generation of heroes fighting for the fate of us all. In the end, who will become Master of the Universe?"

The newly-announced CG series will be executive produced by Adam Bonnett (Descendants), Christopher Keenan (Justice League, Batman Beyond), and Rob David (Masters of the Universe: Revelation, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). Jeff Matsuda (The Batman, TMNT) and Susan Corbin (Voltron) will also serve as produces for the series, while animation will be provided by House of Cool and CGCG (Trollhunters).

Knowing that the animated series is going to focus on teams should be interesting. Granted, Adam did have teammates back in the day but since we're in the modern age of animation, we can expect better writing and characterization for this series. Hopefully.

No release date for Netflix's He-Man and the Masters of the Universe has been announced.
