Netflix Prefers Ron Perlman’s Hellboy Over David Harbour’s Version Of The Character

Millennium might have dropped the first trailer for Neil Marshall's Hellboy reboot today, but it looks like Netflix is still stuck on Ron Perlman's version of the Unwilling Harbinger of the Apocalypse.

The internet has been littered with videos and clips and photos of David Harbour as Hellboy's Great Red thanks to the trailer that Millennium just release today, but instead of joining the bandwagon, Netflix dropped a new video on its Twitter account showcasing different clips from Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy movies showing Ron Perlman as the titular character. "Hot. As. Hellboy," the words played out in the video for Perlman's version of the Harbinger of the Apocalypse.

The streaming company even decided to tag Perlman in its post, writing "Forever Mood: @perlmutations as Hellboy and those big red muscles."

Netflix's post might come as a surprise, but the trailer for Millennium's new Hellboy has drawn mixed reactions from fans with some complaining about everything they got to see in the new footage for the reboot.

According to some fans who've been posting on Twitter, Harbour's Hellboy looks more like a buff greasy homeless man instead of the strong and pleasant superhero that Perlman portrayed in Del Toro's film. Some are also pretty much against the campiness of the trailer.

Still, despite the many complaints being lodged online, there are also fans who have nothing but positive things to say about the new Hellboy, with comic book readers happily noting that the trailers live-action sequences have been taken from certain arcs in the comics.
