Netflix is currently filming the first English-language live-action adaptation of One Piece, and the young actor set to bring Luffy to life, Iñaki Godoy, shared a new video to help celebrate the birthday of the iconic shonen hero who's on a quest to become the King of Pirates.
Alongside Godoy, actors have been cast to play the Straw Hat Pirates for Netflix's upcoming series, including Emily Rudd as Nami, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, and Jacon Gibson as Usopp.
One Piece is currently continuing the story of the War for Wano Arc, in which Luffy is leading the mission alongside Straw Hat Pirates in the battle against the evil Kaido and his Beast Pirates, but Netflix's live-action series will be looking to adapt the early arcs of Eiichiro Oda's beloved manga series.
The official Twitter account for One Piece and Godoy released a video to celebrate the Straw Hat Captain's birthday, while giving us a look at what his take on the shonen hero might be as production of Netflix's live-action series continues.
It looks like Godoy is excited to show us his take on Luffy. The actor certainly looks like he has the fun personality that the Straw Hat Captain is known for. The other actors playing Straw Hat Pirates also look as enthusiastic to play their roles, and fans of the beloved manga and anime series are excited to see their favorite characters come to life.
Netflix hasn't announced an official release date for its upcoming live-action One Piece series, but the creative team behind the series already shared various updates about the show's production.
