Netflix is Publishing A Magazine

As Netflix's lineup of original content continues to grow, the streaming giant is planning to launch a magazine, but it's not what most fans would expect. Netflix will soon publish a journal (currently called Wide) that aims to promote its content ahead of the Emmys, Bloomberg reports. The free publication will highlight Netflix's various shows and movies. Over the past year, Netflix released about 700 programs panning films, TV series, standup comedy specials, documentaries, and animation.

"In preparation for a groundbreaking year in film and television, Netflix has gathered some of the most talented and sought after writers and photographers, thinkers and creatives, to make the inaugural issue of Wide, the Netflix print journal," Netflix wrote in an email.

Wide is set to release in June, which is just about the same time of the year when the television academy vote on their Emmy nominations. This is part of Netflix's effort to lift its image as a Hollywood giant instead of just a streaming content provider, and that's why the company hired publicist Lisa Taback and editor Krista Smith, who will also work on the magazine.
