Fans have certainly been hoping for it but Netflix is making it official. The Haunting of Hill House has been confirmed for a second season and it will feature an all-new cast of characters.
According to The Wrap, Hill House creator Mike Flanagan and executive producer Trevor Macy have signed "a multi-year overall television deal with Netflix." As part of the deal, the series that is now being labeled an "anthology" has been confirmed for Season 2. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we will be seeing the Crain family in the next season.
"Flanagan and Macy will develop and produce new series exclusively for Netflix, including an all-new chapter in ‘The Haunting' anthology, with the next installment chronicling a new story with all new characters," Netflix said in a statement.
People have feared that the new season of Hill House will no longer focus on Steve, Shirley, Theo, Luke, and Nell Crain. However, it's still possible that Season 2 will feature some references to the haunted family.
But what are the chances that the original actors will return in the next season? There have been speculations that Season 2 will still feature the same actors who appeared in the first season although they will be playing new characters. However, this is all based on rumors so it's best to take it with a grain of salt.
The series is based on the 1959 novel by Shirley Jackson. It is still unclear what elements in the book will be featured in The Haunting of Hill House Season 2.
