Netflix Casts Jamie Foxx as a Vampire Hunter in Upcoming Action Film from John Wick Director

It looks like Jamie Foxx is going to be a very busy man. The star of Spider-Man 3 has just been cast as a vampire hunter in a new Netflix film from John Wick director Chad Stahelski.

Collider confirms that Foxx will take on the lead role in Day Shift, an action movie that will be produced by Stahelski. The upcoming project will be the directorial debut of JJ Perry, who had previously served as stunt coordinator on films like Fast & Furious 9, The Fate of the Furious, and Bloodshot.

The script is written by Tyler Tice and Shay Hatten while Stahelski and Jason Spitz will produce for 87Eleven Entertainment along with Shaun Redick and Yvette Yates Redick of Impossible Dream Entertainment. Foxx is also confirmed to serve as executive producer with Peter Baxter and Datari Turner.

In Day Shift, Foxx plays a hard-working, blue-collar dad who wants to provide a good life for his daughter. Interestingly, he uses his San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job as a front for his real source of income, which is hunting and killing vampires.

Redick expressed his excitement for the upcoming project in a statement. "Day Shift is a pulse-pounding thrill ride with action, danger and grounded comedy mixed with a deep mythology — the key ingredients for the absolute best time you can have watching a movie. We couldn't be more excited about producing this at Netflix with Jamie Foxx starring," he said.

Day Shift has not yet been given an official production start or release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
