Neil Gaiman Jokingly Denies Involvement In Blenheim Palace Golden Toilet Theft

It's a fateful day to be at Blenheim Palace. After all, the legendary Golden Toilet has just been stolen from the Oxfordshire palace and anyone could be a suspect. Neil Gaiman happens to be at the premises at the moment and he has just made sure people know he wasn't involved in the theft in a hilarious post.

Gaiman shared a photo of himself at the Blenheim Palace on his official Instagram account. The lengthy caption penned by the Neverwhere writer claims that it was "purely coincidental" that he was there when the burglary occurred. Take a look at his post below.

"For the record I would like to make it clear that I had nothing to do with the theft of the Golden Toilet from Blenheim Palace. My presence here is purely coincidental. I did not take it nor do I currently know where it is. But it has to be the best crime I've ever had nothing to do with today," Gaiman wrote.

Don't worry, Neil. We believe you. It would be more believable if the people from London Below decided to bring the Floating Market to Blenheim Palace and someone (I'm not saying it was the Marquis de Carabas, but you never know) may have thought the Golden Toilet was too pretty to leave behind.

The artwork, which is titled America, was on display at the Blenheim Palace on Thursday as part of an exhibition by Italian conceptual artist Maurizio Cattelan. By early Friday morning, a gang broke into the palace and stole the 18-carat working toilet. BBC reports that a 66-year-old man has been arrested for the theft and no, it wasn't Gaiman (he's only 58).
