Neil Gaiman Addresses Sandman Movie Delay

The world is still waiting for the Sandman movie, which has changed hands so many times that we're not sure who is going to work on it anymore. Luckily, Neil Gaiman has spoken up about the film's extended delay.

A fan recently addressed Gaiman on Twitter, begging the author to "get on it already" because they "only got a couple more years left." Gaiman, who is active on social media, responded to the tweet with an interesting post. Check it out below.

"I don't own Sandman. I don't control the rights. I definitely don't control the movies. You need to address your frustration to Warner Bros I'm afraid," Gaiman wrote.

It's easy to understand why people still think Gaiman is the one who could dictate when the Sandman movie will be released. After all, he created the comic book series that focused on Morpheus and the rest of the Endless. Unfortunately, Gaiman isn't the one responsible for bringing Dream to the big screen. Let's just hope that Warner Bros. will finalize a plan for the highly anticipated film.

There have been several plans to bring Sandman to TV and movie since the 1990s. However, none of these ideas have gone into production. In 2013, Warner Bros. had announced that David S. Goyer and Joseph Gordon-Levitt will produce the movie. Unfortunately, Gordon-Levitt decided to drop out of the project. Interestingly, the Inception star confirmed his departure just one day after Eric Heisserer (Final Destination 5) signed on to pen the script.

Gaiman's latest project is the TV series based on his joint novel with Terry Pratchett Good Omens. The show is expected to premiere on Amazon Prime in 2019.
