NCT Johnny made people drop their jaws with his fashion at the Met Gala 2022.
Teen Vogue noted the K-pop idol’s get-up, saying that he opted to wear FIT alum and LVHM Graduates Prize winner Peter Do’s pieces. He wore a long black satin tailcoat and a matching suit.
He also complemented it with black shoes that have metal rims.
After his smooth sailing Met Gala experience, Johnny revealed his reaction after scoring the chance to be at Met Gala.
NCT Johnny Says Met Gala Experience Was Nerve-Wracking
Following his appearance, the 27-year-old Cherry Bomb singer sat for an interview with Teen Vogue on Wednesday and said that he had never experienced similar emotions on a red carpet before.
"This was the first time that I was really nervous because I didn't know what was going to happen in there. I heard that my team couldn't come inside, so that got me really worried,” he said. "And there were a lot of people I've never met before that I really have wanted to meet," the singer added. "It was just so many new things at once."
Still, he noted that Met Gala 2022 turned out to be less stressful than he thought it would be.
Johnny expressed his gratitude toward those people who helped him during the event. Everyone was also sweet and open to having a conversation with anybody.
He took his time to recall how great Eva Chen was. He was able to interact with her since Peter Do also dressed her for the Met Gala.
After he came home from the event, the Chicago-born musician still said it was unbelievable since he never knew it would ever happen in his career.
NCT Johnny’s Met Gala Appearance Follows Several K-pop Idol’s Historic Attendances
Aside from Johnny, more K-pop stars have already dominated – and made records – after attending the prestigious fashion event.
In 2013, PSY and Super Junior member Siwon attended the Met Gala and became the first K-pop stars to become part of the event. Two years later, Rain followed them when he attended China: Through the Looking Glass.
EXO’s Lay also came in 2019 for Camp: Notes on Fashion Met.
After PSY and Siwon, BLACKPINK’s Rose and 2NE1’s CL also made history by becoming the first female K-pop idols to ever attend the Met Ball.
For Johnny’s part, he is now officially the first NCT member to grace the gala.
