The trailer introduces It star Sophia Lillis as the teen sleuth who finds herself utterly bored in her new neighborhood. However, things quickly change when her friend George Fayne (Zoe Renee) tells her about an alleged haunted house called Twin Elms going viral.
Nancy is clearly in her element when she investigates the house and its creepy backstory. Will she get to solve the case?
The film's synopsis reads as follows:
"Teen detective Nancy Drew is back to solve a brand new mystery in Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase. Produced by Ellen Degeneres and starring Sophia Lillis as Nancy, the film follows Nancy and her friends as they set out to solve a mystery, make new friends, and establish their place in the community."
The movie is based on the classic book The Hidden Staircase, which was first published in 1930. However, the new film will be a loose adaptation of the revised novel released in 1959.
The new version of Nancy Drew is certainly an interesting one considering that the character doesn't appear prim and proper like she is described in the books. Nevertheless, it's awesome to see that the modern-age Nancy still has the right amount of sass.
Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase will premiere on March 15.
