The title of My Hero Academia Chapter 401 is The Lunatic, and it picks up where the previous chapter left off with the arrival of Stain.

The chapter begins with Stain’s recollection of events prior to his arrival at All Might and All For One’s fight.

The discussion between Ingenium and the “one with the scar” gave Stain the context he needed. Stain followed the trail of destruction and discovered some of All For One’s blood.

Back at the present, Stain wonders if All Might has realized the reason why he bared his soul to him.

Stain wanted All Might to understand the meaning of his own existence, value his life, and continue to fight death. All Might says that he gets it now.

Stain and All Might charge towards All For One, whose body has been paralyzed with blood curdle. All For One counters with Forced Activation and Phlebotomy, throwing his own blood in the process.

All For One talks to Stain, aka Akaguro, and says that he knew he was up to something after he refused his help and left on his own in Tartarus. This is why All For One has been preparing countermeasures against Stain’s plan.

Stain says that he just needs to lick All For One’s blood again, but the latter reveals that he has rewritten the composition of his blood with antigen modification. All For One adds that losing his blood helped cool him down.

As this happens, a mouth emerges from All For One’s back and bites Stain. All Might comes to Stain’s rescue, but All For One throws Stain several blocks away. Stain lands in a game center, and All For One quickly follows him.

All For One announces that he will steal Stain’s bloodcurdle quirk. He realizes that Stain was crucial to Tomura and the League’s growth, but that’s where his role ended.

Stain barely answers, saying that All For One is wrong. He clarifies that they’re all part of a bigger process.

He thinks about All Might and how he was the one who taught him the meaning of being a hero since he never graduated from high school.

He raises both of his hands in the air, as if he were praying, and asks All Might to win the fight and keep on living. As All Might desperately comes to Stain’s aid, All For One punches him, resulting in a shower of blood.

Then, All For One faces All Might in an attempt to attack, but Hercules shields him. Hercules tells All Might to live before All For One destroys it with a powerful laser.

The next panel shows All Might lying on the ground. He hears familiar voices, asking him to do his best.

All Might starts hallucinating as he sees Nana Shimura and Nighteye. He understands that it’s just him trying to encourage himself, but the fact that he’s not yet dead means it’s not yet over.

All Might, with a smile on his face, starts crawling into the ground.

Before the chapter ends, reports about All For One approaching Shigaraki with his gloop warp have been confirmed.
