America Chavez was created by Joe Casey and Nick Dragotta in 2011's Marvel Comics Vengeance. Chavez has the ability to create portals in the Multiverse and also has superhuman strength, speed, flight, and can time-travel in her Comics origins.

In the latest issue of D23 Magazine, Multiverse of Madness producer discussed why the sequel is perfect for Chavez's debut, believing that her ability to create portals in the Multiverse would fit best in the film. Palmer explained,

"America is someone we've been trying to get into the MCU for a long time. This felt like the best place to do it, because 'Multiverse' is in the title and her powers specifically have to do with the Multiverse - her powers being that she can punch open doorways to other universes. That's something we haven't seen in our movies, a character who can actually walk from one universe to another. That's maddening in itself for characters such as Doctor Strange and Wong, whose jobs are to protect those barriers."

Rumors about the sequel claim that Wanda is hunting Chavez because of her ability to go through different universes and Wanda can use that in her own villainous pursuit. That is also the reason why Chavez is spotted with Wong and Doctor Strange, to protect her from their enemies that want to use her powers.

America Chavez actor Xochitl Gomez also explained, "With America, she just keeps going, especially when things are going wrong - and everything is going completely wrong for her. She's running away from her uniqueness until she learns to embrace it. She just never loses hope, and I can relate to that. She's aspirational that way."

America Chavez would be a substantial addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it looks like the studio is building a future Young Avengers lineup together with Wanda's kids; Tommy and Billy from Wandavision, Kate Bishop in Hawkeye, and Cassie Lang who is rumored to make her debut in Ant-Man: Quantumania.

We will witness America Chavez's ‘maddening’ powers when Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness hit theaters on May 6.
