Marvel fans were pretty excited when Marvel Studios announced that it would be developing a Ms. Marvel series for Disney's new streaming site, Disney+. Kamala Khan, otherwise known as Ms. Marvel, has been a popular comic book character ever since she first appeared in Captain Marvel #14 back in August 2013. Khan is Marvel's first ever Muslim comic book hero to headline in her own comic book series, making her a significant character in the Marvel Comic Universe.
Though there haven't been that many updates on the Ms. Marvel series, a new report by The Illuminerdi suggests that Marvel will begin working on the project's principal photography this summer. The studio has yet to cast Kamala Khan, but whoever takes on the role will have to shoot between July 2020 and June 2021.
According to the site, Ms. Marvel may very well move on from her series and make her own MCU appearance in Captain Marvel 2 since the film could shoot around the same time as Ms. Marvel. This is pretty exciting news for Ms. Marvel fans. Kamala Khan's origin has been closely tied to Carol Danvers, so it makes sense that Marvel would want to have the character to appear in the Captain Marvel sequel.
To those who aren't familiar with the character, Khan is a Pakistani American teenager from Jersey City in New Jersey with Inhuman genes that give her shapeshifting abilities. She assumes the Ms. Marvel mantle from her idol Carol Danvers after the former pilot becomes Captain Marvel.
Ms. Marvel has yet to receive a release date, but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
