Marvel Studios has already kickstarted the production for Ms. Marvel and the first photos from the set of the upcoming Disney+ series pretty much confirms that Iman Vellani is indeed playing Kamala Khan aka Captain Carol Danvers' junior counterpart — well, sort of. To those unfamiliar with the character, Kamala is a long-time fanatic of Carol Danvers and as fate would have it, she'd also get her own set of powers after being exposed to Terrigen mist. She would later call herself Ms. Marvel, the name Danvers previously used before transitioning to becoming Captain Marvel.
Now, several production images have surfaced online which see the up-and-coming actress in action, presumably before she gets her super abilities. A couple of shots from the series' set also features Vellani dressed up as her hero Captain Marvel which makes you think about Brie Larson's potential appearance in the show. You can check out the said images here.
I don't know about you but Kevin Feige and his crew seem to have huge plans for the character considering Ms. Marvel only debuted in 2013. Taking nothing away from her though, she instantly clicked with fans. It's also worth noting that they're setting up the Young Avengers so it's only logical that they'd start building Kamala Khan up this early. The inclusion of Kamala Khan to the franchise is definitely a great move as younger fans of the MCU will finally have a hero that they'll all be able to relate to. I'm genuinely stoked for this show.
Ms. Marvel is slated for release in 2022.
