The nine-part episode series follows the story of 456 debt-ridden participants who tried their luck to be the sole winner of the children's themed survival game.

Squid Game stars Lee Jung Jae, Park Hae Soo, Jung Ho Yeon as the contestant whose eyes are on the prize amounting to 45.6 billion KRW while Wi Ha Joon plays the police officer Hwang Jun Ho whose goal is to infiltrate the game to look for his brother.

Months after Squid Game was released, another K-series reigned the charts through the zombie-themed All of Us Are Dead.

Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, the K-zombie series depicts the story of Hyosan High School students who are trapped inside a campus filled with flesh-eating creatures.

Although Koreans usually release this type of genre, what makes All of Us Are Dead different from other K-zombie series is it features high school students played by rookie actors and rising stars.

Park Solomon, Park Ji Hoo, Yoon Chan Young, Cho Yi Hyun from Hospital Playlist and the Netflix series' villain Yoo In Soo really did an amazing job portraying their respective roles.

Vincenzo

tvN managed to produce a top rating K-drama Vincenzo during the first quarter of 2021.

It stars Song Joong Ki as Vincenzo Cassano, who moved to Italy when he was eight and became a member of a mafia to be the organization's underboss or second in command.

Unfortunately, after his adoptive father dies, the man's biological son tries to kill Vincenzo, prompting him to move back to his country home, South Korea and gets involved with the feisty lawyer Hong Cha Young, played by Jeon Yeo Been.

Interestingly, Soompi reported that Vincenzo lands as the sixth-highest rating series in tvN history after garnering a whopping nationwide rating of 14.6 percent.

The good thing is that the 20-part K-drama of Song Joong Ki is currently available on Netflix.

The Silent Sea

Before bidding 2021 goodbye, Hallyu gave viewers another reason to look forward to the holidays and it's not just Christmas.

Released on December 24, the eight-part episode K-drama The Silent Sea debuted globally, gaining an overwhelming response from the public.

The star-studded cast and mind-boggling plot surely draw viewers to binge-watch the whole series in just once sitting.

Gong Yoo took on the role of Captain Han Yun Jae, who was tasked to deliver a mission to the moon and find the abandoned lunar base.

Joining him is the skilled astrobiologist Song Ji An played by Bae Doona and the former navy who volunteered to join the expedition Captain Ryu Tae Suk, played by Lee Joon.

Hellbound

Yoo Ah In's K-drama Hellbound also earned positive feedback from the audience and critics, making it one of the top Netflix TV series at the time.
