There's no denying that the untimely passing of Chadwick Boseman left a massive void in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that is going to be tough to fill. For a number of months, the future of the entire Black Panther franchise was shrouded in doubt but Marvel Studios pretty much confirmed weeks ago that the planned sequel is still happening. While T'Challa's future has yet to be addressed, it's safe to assume that the studio will do the right thing and preserve Boseman's legacy by not casting another actor to continue playing the role.
Rumor has it that the sequel to the 2018 smash hit — Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will revolve around the coronation of a new Black Panther who will take over for T'Challa. Characters like Shuri, M'Baku, and even the already deceased Eric Killmonger are reported to be top candidates for the superhero role. Another persistent rumor that has been making the round all over the internet suggests that the sequel will also mark the live-action debut of Namor the Submariner.
But the real question is, which actor should Kevin Feige and his crew cast for the role? Turns out, digital artist @venomhology has the perfect casting choice for the MCU's version of the aquatic Marvel superhero and it's none other than Mortal Kombat actor Joe Taslim who played Sub-Zero in the 2021 remake. Taking to his official Instagram page, the artist unveiled a sick artwork of Taslim depicted as the fan-favorite character and I gotta say, I can totally see him pulling off the role. Check it out here:
We still don't know what happens in the sequel and what tricks the folks over at Marvel Studios will pull up their sleeves but Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is already shaping up to be a film MCU fans can't afford to miss. I can already tell that it's going to be an emotional roller coaster.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is scheduled to hit cinemas on July 8, 2022.
