More Pokemon: Detective Pikachu Trading Cards Revealed

Depending on who you ask, the "realistic" Pokemon seen in Detective Pikachu are either great additions to the series' overall lore or are nightmare fuel. While fans aren't sure how to feel about the movie, the Pokemon has been a constant topic of discussion and they are usually in a positive light. If anything else, these versions of the monsters have made for great images for the Pokemon Trading Card Game.

Thanks to the promotional Pokemon: Detective Pikachu trading cards, we now have new looks at Jigglypuff, Mr. Mime, and Psyduck. Keeping the designs we've seen from trailers thus far, the Pokemon continue to look great in this format and we can only hope that they consistently look great during the movie.

We've already seen the trading cards of fan-favorites like Detective Pikachu (of course), Charizard, and Greninja. Based on some of the Pokemon we've seen in the trailers, we'll probably see Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Snubble, and Lickitung. Maybe even more, depending on the other Pokemon who are revealed for the film.

The story begins when ace private eye Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry's former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself. Finding that they are uniquely equipped to communicate with one another, Tim and Pikachu join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City—a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pokémon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world—they encounter a diverse cast of Pokémon characters and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokémon universe.
