Morbius Star Tyrese Gibson Still Wants to Play DCEU's Green Lantern

Tyrese Gibson might be starring in a new comic book movie but it looks like the Morbius actor already has his eye on a completely new project. Gibson has just admitted that he still wants to play Green Lantern in a future DC Extended Universe flick.

Gibson recently spoke to Comicbook.com while promoting Fast and Furious 9 and he shared that although Warner Bros. hasn't called him yet about Green Lantern, he's keeping his fingers crossed.

"I don't have any updates. I just hope they call me. I hope they call me," Gibson said. "It's a role I'm very passionate about doing, but right now, the focus is this Morbius film."

Gibson also spoke about the upcoming Jared Leto film, confessing that he was eager to join another major franchise after Fast and Furious.

"It's the Spider-Man spinoff franchise, Morbius, Venom, Marvel, and I'm just excited to be able to be a part of this franchise," Gibson stated. "I love the Fast & the Furious, but I've been wanting to be a part of another franchise. Because the last time I was in a franchise was Transformers, which is not too shabby."

For now, it's still unclear if the planned Green Lantern film is still happening. Although Warner Bros. had previously announced plans for Green Lantern Corps, the project appears to have been pushed back. Still, it's a movie that could really impress fans so we're still hoping that we'll get an update soon.

Gibson will play Simon Stroud in Morbius, which is scheduled for release on July 31.
