The Arrow series finale is finally here and while the Emerald Archer's story comes to a close, it looks like the last episode has also revealed that this is only the start of another character's adventures.
This article contains SPOILERS.
Towards the end of Arrow's penultimate episode, viewers saw John Diggle preparing to leave Star City to go back to Metropolis after saying goodbye and reliving his moments with Oliver Queen. However, what looks like a meteor came crashing next to him, which sends Diggle flying. Once he recovered and went to see what has fallen to the crater, he finds a small box. Much to the viewers' surprise, a green glow was seen inside once he opened it.
Fans have been speculating for a while that David Ramsey's John Diggle would eventually become Green Lantern a.k.a. John Stewart. It has been a long-running theory by fans and the show has even placed some hints pointing towards the idea that Diggle could be the Emerald Knight. For instance, it has been previously revealed that the last name of Diggle's grandfather is Stewart.
Speaking with the press following the series finale (via Collider), Ramsey says he doesn't know what the green box means yet. For now, "we'll still see, believe it or not. We'll find out."
"We're just gonna continue to tease you guys," showrunner Marc Guggenheim said. "This was something that was worked out, over a year ahead, with DC entertainment." He pointed out that they have discussed this with the studio, so "to say anything beyond" what was shown in the finale will "violate" their agreement with DC.
Based on Guggenheim and Ramsey's comments, it is likely that Diggle will finally become Green Lantern soon. While this hasn't been confirmed yet, viewers can't wait to see what kind of adventures he'll be on as the Emerald Knight.
