Morbius Star Tyrese Gibson Campaigns to Play Blade Despite Already Being Played by Another Actor

It was during the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con when Marvel Studios announced that Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali will play Blade in the MCU which made a lot of fans excited to see the vampire hunter make his debut in the franchise which eventually happened through an off-screen appearance during the post-credits scene of Eternals and will continue in his upcoming solo film. However, despite the role already being cast a long time ago, there is another actor that is currently campaigning to play the iconic character.

Morbius star Tyrese Gibson recently posted on Instagram a photo of himself along with a comic panel featuring Blade and the caption, "We on!!!!!!!!!!!!!" The post has caused a lot of confusion amongst fans as they assumed that the actor is campaigning to play the role even though it's already been cast. A lot of people have left comments reminding him that Ali is already set to play the character.

You can check the post below (which is still up as of the time of the writing of this article):

It's hard to tell why Gibson decided to post it whether he was actually campaigning for the role or he was just having fun and playing with his fans. There are speculations that he might be hinting that he is part of the Blade MCU film although it appears to be unlikely since he wouldn't be allowed by Marvel to announce it without their approval.

It is also impossible to consider the idea that the actor is not aware that Ali has been cast in the role since it's already public knowledge for three years. While we might never know the answer, you have to give it to him for his passion by letting everyone know on social media that he is interested to play the role even though it is unlikely.

This is also not the first time that Gibson's social media post caused confusion amongst fans. A few weeks ago, he posted a fake review of Martin Scorsese praising Morbius although he took it down quickly when he realized that the review is not real.
