The first trailer for Morbius was released last month which featured a Spider-Man Easter egg in the form of graffiti. However, fans were confused since the Spider-Man used wasn't Tom Holland's but from Sam Raimi's original trilogy. Now, new set photos further point to more connections with the wall-crawler.
Morbius is revealed to have been doing some reshoots for the movie. A fan then shared some photos from the set which shows its exterior filming, including a New York bus that has an advertisement on it asking for Spider-Man's whereabouts, indicating that the hero is missing. You can check it out here.
The ad was from the Daily Bugle. However, the logo used for the news outlet isn't the one used in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Instead, it's actually similar to that of the logo used in Raimi's movies. With the graffiti in the trailer and the ad in the set photos, this led fans to speculate that Morbius is actually somewhat set in the universe of Raimi's Spider-Man.
This also got fans confused since they were expecting that Morbius could somehow lead to some connections with Holland's Spider-Man. With the missing ad, it is possible that with his identity compromised in Far From Home, he could have gone in hiding. At the same time, fans think that Sony is just not allowed to use imagery from the MCU, but then again, the choice to put elements from Raimi's film could actually mean something.
There's a whole lot of possibilities to explain the version of Spider-Man used for the upcoming film. For now, fans could only wait until Morbius hits theaters on July 31.
