Moonraker Actor Michael Lonsdale Dies at 89

The film industry lost another brilliant actor as news broke that Michael Lonsdale has passed away at the age of 89. His cause of death has yet to be confirmed.

Lonsdale worked on over 200 films and TV shows during his stellar acting career which spans six decades, appearing in projects like Ronin and Munich but he is best known for his role in the 1979 James Bond film Moonraker as the iconic Bond villain Hugo Drax opposite the late Sir Roger Moore.

The franchise's official social media handles paid tribute to the late actor via a joint statement written by producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. The statement reads: "We are very sad to learn of the passing of Michael Lonsdale, who played Hugo Drax in Moonraker. He was an extraordinarily talented actor and a very dear friend. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time."

Lonsdale's outstanding contributions to the film and television industry will forever be remembered and cherished. Rest in Power, Michael Lonsdale.
