With the recent trailers teasing a distinct approach on the upcoming series, which features a darker tone, a mind-bending storyline, and some brutal-action scenes, Moon Knight promises to deliver a never before seen exciting take on a superhero series.

In a recent interview with Variety (via ComicBook) at Moon Knight's red carpet premiere, writer Jeremy Slater reveals that the show was heavily inspired by cinema classics Indiana Jones and Ghostbusters. Slater reveals that he wanted to bring some scary elements to the series while also keeping it family-friendly. Slater explained,

"I came and wanted to go with Raiders of the Lost Ark. I want to see some Ghostbusters. I want to bring some horror into the MCU and some scary monsters, and really push that envelope as far we can. Kevin [Feige] and Marvel were so supportive of that, so we really just sort of used Kevin as our litmus test in terms of finding out if this is something we should pull back on."

Both Ghostbusters and Indiana Jones deal with supernatural elements that seem to be the inspiration for the upcoming Moon Knight. While the creatures in Ghostbusters and Indiana Jones seem to look sillier, it looks like Moon Knight has to balance between being silly and scary.

Moon Knight
received a rated TV-14 on Disney+, which totally makes sense as the series is reportedly focusing on Marc Spector's mental illness and Egyptian mythology. With Slater's comments about the upcoming series, it's confirmed that Moon Knight will be on the adventure genre, with some frightening elements but will remain family-friendly.

Moon Knight is set to premiere in Disney+ on March 30.
