Moon Knight fans have been waiting for Marc Spector to return to the MCU for two years, and D23 has just officially confirmed he will, soon! Here's how Oscar Isaac graces the screen on Disney+ once more.
Season 1 barely scratched the surface as to who Moon Knight is and the extent of Marc Spector's powers when it comes to confronting his identity, so a second season should have been in order. Instead, Disney's D23 fan event offered a different comeback.
Moon Knight is Not Getting a Season 2 But Here's How He Returns
Contrary to MCU fans' first impressions, the Fist of Khonshu is not returning to the MCU through Moon Knight season 2.
Oscar Isaac and Marvel had been dangling the answer right in front of us: Moon Knight season 2 filming updates just weren't happening.
Apart from scheduling conflicts with the main actors starring in the Disney+ series, how would the second season fit into the Multiverse plans when The Marvels and Deadpool and Wolverine had more to offer in having the X-Men join the franchise again?
However, at D23 2024: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Marvel Animation confirmed that What If...? season 3 includes an Avengers team episode where Moon Knight faces gamma monsters alongside Captain America aka Falcon, Monica Rambeau, and more.
According to the full description for the third season, the episode will include the official MCU debut of Ironheart ahead of their upcoming miniseries. Instead, Moon Knight and Ironheart will team up with the Avengers and face the Iron Legion drones.
While this sent mixed signals to fans, it's worth something: it's better than nothing, considering that Moon Knight will still be voiced by Oscar Isaac and his appearance in the animated feature could eventually kickstart Moon Knight season 2.
If anything, this alternate Avengers team could offer some sneak peek perspective of what we can expect of the new MCU Avengers in the near future of the franchise.
