Moon Knight and Hawkeye Are Being Submitted in the Limited Series Categories at the Emmy Awards

Moon Knight is currently receiving a lot of acclaim from the critics and the audience thanks to its uniqueness from the rest of the MCU and Oscar Isaac's terrific performance. Given that the series has been successful so far, a lot of fans have been wondering if they'll ever do a second season. Now, an update regarding its placement at this year's Emmy Awards has seemingly put that possibility to rest.

According to Variety, Marvel Studios is submitting Moon Knight and Hawkeye in the limited series categories at this year's Emmy Awards meaning that they are officially designating them as one-off shows. Meanwhile, Loki is going to be submitted in the drama categories given that it's already renewed for a second season and will continue the storyline from the first season just like a regular TV series.

While the two aforementioned shows are being designated as limited series at the Emmy Awards, it doesn't 100% indicate that there's not going to be a second season. A few years ago, the hit HBO series Big Little Lies first competed in the limited series categories as it was initially planned to be a one-off show during that time. However, a few months later, they decided to do a second season breaking free from its original limited series status. The two shows' current Emmy placements only indicate that Marvel Studios doesn't have any plans for them to do a second season at the moment.

Even though it might be unfortunate for fans to hear that the shows might not get a second season for now, it does give them a better chance awards-wise as it avoided them from competing in the already-crowded drama categories where the shows might not stand a chance to get nominated. With the praises that Isaac is getting for his performance in Moon Knight, he now has a great shot to be recognized in the Lead Actor in a Limited Series category.

Right now, it's hard to tell whether the three MCU shows that are competing this year will actually have a chance to get nominated in the major categories given how many TV shows have premiered in the past several months and will also debut in the next few weeks until the May 31 deadline. However, given that WandaVision was able to nab a lot of major nominations last year, it does give hope for them to get the same kind of recognition.
