Moon Knight Episode 1 Hints at The Show's Big Bad Villain [Not Arthur Harrow]

After months of waiting, Moon Knight premiered today on Disney+ and Marvel fans finally met Oscar Isaac's Steven Grant, along with a glimpse of Grant's other identity, Marc Spector. Alongside Grant, we also met the show's villain in the very first sequence, Ethan Hawke's Arthur Harrow. While the show points out Harrow's character as the big bad for Moon Knight, the first episode seems to hint at another Egyptian mythology god as the main villain.

[SPOILER ALERT]

Fans already anticipated Moon Knight's core to revolve around Egyptian mythology and in the first episode, Harrow announced to a crowd that he is ready to judge anyone who will come forward in the name of "Ammit." Later on, it was revealed that Harrow has a tattoo of scales, that helps him judge a person whether they are good or bad.

In Marvel comics, Arthur Harrow is merely a forgettable character because he doesn't possess any special abilities at all aside from being a mad scientist. For the live-action adaptation of the character, Harrow is a follower of Ammit, who appeared in both comics and traditional Egyptian mythology. Ammit is an Egyptian god known as the "Devourer of the Dead" and the mystical counterpart of Spector's Khonshu. In the comics, If Ammit finds a person's soul to be impure, she devours it.

Revealing Arthur Harrow's villainous motivation in the first episode of the Disney+ show directly aims at Ammit's resurrection. While we can't predict anything yet about how Ammit will be resurrected, it's safe to guess that the Egyptian god can take form in Arthur Harrow's body, allowing Harrow to have abilities to go face to face against Moon Knight.

Moon Knight's Episode 1 is now streaming on Disney+ and the second episode will release on April 6.
