Monster Hunter Movie Adds Former Hellboy Ron Perlman and Ant-Man's T.I. Harris

The upcoming Monster Hunter movie has a lot of fans worried since it's coming from the same production team that made the Resident Evil movies. That's not a joke either; Paul W.S. Anderson is directing the movie and Milla Jovovich has already been cast for the lead role. It will be a miracle if this movie ends up being decent.

Still, it looks like there will be some entertainment here as the studio has cast former Hellboy star and Guillermo del Toro favorite Ron Perlman, along with musician and Ant-Man star T.I. Harris. Granted, talented actors don't always make a movie good but it will be interesting to see what the studio has planned for these two.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Perlman is going to be a character named Admiral, the leader of The Hunter's Crew, while Harris will be a sniper named Link. Sadly, he won't be a blonde elf that follows Princess Zelda, but at least he has a name and role. We can expect them to kill some enemies, before getting eaten by other monsters.

Now, to be perfectly honest, the Monster Hunter video games aren't really known for their plots. Most of them don't even bother with a basic story, with the exception of RPG spinoff Monster Hunter: Stories and Monster Hunter: World, though the latter's plot didn't exactly set the world on fire. It's a simple premise and one that Anderson shouldn't mess up.

Then again, the Resident Evil movies should have been simple zombie stories that ended up getting crazier per installment. Sure, you need to expand the universe and add new elements, but the movies did not do this well. They did make a ton of money though, so there is clearly an audience for these movies.

Monster Hunter starts production next month.
