The Korean remake of Money Heist is finally coming to Netflix. An announcement teaser has just confirmed the show's official title and release date!
The announcement teaser confirms that the series will be titled Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area. It also features the first look at the cast which includes the stars from Squid Game, Parasite, and Lost. The teaser concludes by revealing the show's release date. Check it out below.
Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area is a remake of the Spanish TV drama and will follow the storyline and characters of the original series. The Professor, a strategist criminal mastermind, leads a gang with plans to pull off a heist in Korean Peninsula. The operation involves strategists and desperados with different characteristics and abilities, who have to face unusual situations.
The series will star Yoo Ji-tae as The Professor, Jeon Jong-seo as Tokyo, Squid Game's Park Hae-soo as Berlin, Lee Won-jong as Moscow, Kim Ji-hoon as Denver, Jang Yoon-ju as Nairobi, Lee Hyun-woo as Rio, Kim Ji-hun as Helsinki, and Lee Kyu-ho as Oslo. They will be joined by Lost star Kim Yun-jin as Seon Woo-jin, a crisis negotiation team leader, and Parasite's Park Myung-hoon as Cho Young-min, the director of the Mint Bureau who becomes a hostage.
Money Heist received several awards including the International Emmy Award for Best Drama Series at the 46th International Emmy Awards. The original series ran for five seasons, concluding with the final season in December last year. The Korean remake is the first of what could be several remakes around the world.
Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area is directed by Kim Hong-sun. The episode count for the new series has not yet been revealed. It premieres on Netflix on June 24, 2022.
