Although Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area is being called a "remake", there are some differences you can notice in the teaser trailer. The first look begins with a TV announcement explaining that South and North Korea will finally unite and "establish an economic union" with one shared currency between them. To rebel against this union, The Professor (played by Old Boy star Yoo Ji-tae) assembles a team of thieves and misfits for a massive heist.

"Welcome to capitalism," one of the gang members says in voiceover after The Professor explains that the announcement from North Korea only caused the rich getting richer. "It's time for us, left with nothing, to claim our benefits," The Professor tells the team.

The masks are slightly different from the masks the heist team wore in the original Spanish TV show, but they're all wearing the familiar red jumpsuits. We also get a look at the action sequences and thrills that fans of the original series will surely love, and it looks this K-drama could potentially dominate Netflix's global charts, following the footsteps of Squid Game and All of Us Are Dead.

The trailer concludes with Tokyo saying, "We will do bad things"

So far, Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area looks visually epic. Alex Pina, the creator of the original Money Heist, lauded the Korean remake's potential for originality while speaking to Variety when it was announced, saying:

"Korean creators have been developing their own language and audiovisual culture for years. They have managed, like our series, to go beyond cultural borders and become a point of reference for thousands of viewers around the world, especially among young people...The fact that the action is set on the Korean Peninsula also seems to me to be a milestone which I am really delighted about."
