A new Apple TV+ series joins the Monsterverse timeline as Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is coming to the streamer this November 17th. However, before starting the series, when does Monarch: Legacy of Monsters take place on the Monsterverse timeline, anyway?
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters: When Does the Kaiju Movie Take Place?
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is set right after the incident of the reboot of 2014's Godzilla, meaning that the series would be placed following the events of Kong: Skull Island, the movie released back in 2017.
The upcoming Monarch series will be releasing ten 6-minute episodes on Apple TV+ wherein the first two episodes were directed by WandaVision's very own Matt Shakman.
According to the official synopsis for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, the series takes place in the 1950s:
...Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga - spanning three generations - reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.
The series will also follow the reprisal of the classic fan-favorite Kaiju from the franchise, along with the side of new monsters that are going to be introduced in the upcoming narrative.

Where Does Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Belong on the Monsterverse Timeline?
With the growing number of prequels, sequels, and reboots, it's hard to pin down and decide whether a new movie or series even belongs in the canon timeline of the Monsterverse.
However, you'll be glad to know that Monarch: Legacy of Monsters does, as confirmed by the legendary comic book writer Matt Fraction (via Entertainment Weekly) responsible for co-executive producing the Apple TV+ series:
