Modern Horizons Previews Reveal New Legendary Cards, Talismans & A Sliver

The Modern Horizons previews continue this week as more Magic: The Gathering cards from the upcoming straight-to-Modern set are being revealed. Today, two legendary cards have been revealed: Yawgmoth, Thran Physician and Kess, Dissident Mage. Both cards cost four mana to play. Other cards have also been revealed including a new red sliver, a reprint of Eldamri's Call, a new counterspell card with Fateful Hour (If you have 5 or less life, you get a bonus effect), a new goblin card with Exalted, and 5 new talisman cards that each produce one of the two mana colors it can make.

This looks like a strong sideboard against Humans decks in Modern.

Here's a great sideboard card against Affinity in Modern.

Translation:

Spiteful Sliver

Slivers you control have "Whenever this creature is dealt damage, it deals that much damage to target player or planeswalker".

This card reminds me of Chain Lightning. This card will probably see more play in Commander than in Modern though.

A red card with Exalted (usually in Bant colors) looks weirdly surprising but who knows? This might see play in Mono-Red decks in Modern.

Translation:

Haste Exalted (Whenever a creature you control attacks alone, that creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn.)

These talisman artifacts will surely be useful in Modern Horizons Limited format as they will allow players to splash more colors or ramp to play a bigger spell.

Modern Horizons will be released on June 14. Prerelease events will take place on June 8 and 9. The prerelease events will be Draft, not Sealed. Modern Horizons events on Magic Online start on June 6.
