Mission Impossible 6 Director Discusses Justice League Mustache Drama

Justice League wasn't the worst movie ever made but it did have a lot of problems, one of them being the horrendous CGI used to hide Henry Cavill's mustache. This resulted in the actor not looking quite right, with many wondering what happened to the handsome man who played as Superman.

There has been a lot of he-said-she-said in regards to what went wrong but Mission Impossible: Fallout director Christopher McQuarrie vowed to set the record straight on what happened. He seems to be a man of his word, as McQuarrie shed the details on why Cavill couldn't shave his mustache for the movie.

According to his podcast interview with Empire Film, McQuarrie confirmed he was contacted by Warner Bros. about shaving his mustache and was offered money so that they could CGI a fake one for Fallout. McQuarrie even said he considered having Cavill shave it if Warner Bros. could cough up $3 million for it.

Ultimately, it was Paramount Pictures that put its foot down in regards to Cavill shaving. This, in turn, leads to the horrible CGI being used to make his facial hair less visible, resulting in one of the unintentionally scariest-looking live-action Superman portrayals to date.

McQuarrie shouldn't be blamed for this since he clearly didn't want Justice League to fail. Still, he had to stick by his movie and what a spectacle that was. Mission Impossible: Fallout might be one of the best action movies to come out in recent memory.
