Miley Cyrus' Black Mirror Episode will Deal with the 'Exploitation of Artists'

Miley Cyrus has mostly been a pop-star after Hannah Montana, but she still does onscreen roles, one of which is in an episode of Black Mirror Season 5, Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too. Cyrus seems to be playing a kind of parody of herself in the role, and she talks a bit about her episode.

Talking to The Guardian, Cyrus explains:

"I think it's an important story that needs to be told, such a realistic take on what it's like working in the music industry. It really portrays the overt exploitation of artists and that numbers usually eclipse the creative most of the time."

Seeing that Cyrus is one of the most popular pop-artists today, you can say that she's been perfectly cast in the role. She continues, "You can see it playing out in the media right now… There's huge similarities with what we see in pop music today."

Though we don't have a full synopsis for the episode, I have a feeling the show will be borrowing a plot element from previous BM episodes where they copy someone's consciousness and put it into a machine. My guess is that Cyrus' character is asked to have her consciousness copied into these toys, and people buy them to have ‘authentic' interactions with "Ashley".

That's just my guess at least. You can only watch so many Black Mirror episodes that you can start to predict what could happen in the next story.

Black Mirror Season 5 comes back to Netflix June 5.
