It looks like Star Trek is set to dominate the upcoming Critics Choice Super Awards. The franchise just raked in seven nominations in the awards show including Best Animated Series for Star Trek: Lower Decks. Not surprisingly, creator Mike McMahan is delighted with the nomination and immediately celebrated on social media.
McMahan took to his official Twitter account to congratulate Lower Decks' Tawny Newsome and Jack Quaid for their nominations. Take a look at his tweet below.
"Wow! #StarTrekLowerDecks nominated for best animated show, and @TrondyNewman & @JackQuaid92 nominated for best voice acting at the @CriticsChoice #Superawards! Lower Decks! Lower Decks!" McMahan wrote.
Newsome is nominated for Best Voice Actress In An Animated Series while Quaid is one of the nominees for Best Voice Actor In An Animated Series. Needless to say, we're excited and hoping the two will get to bring home the awards next year.
Lower Decks isn't the only Star Trek show that got a nomination. Both Star Trek: Picard and Star Trek: Discovery are nominated for Best Science Fiction / Fantasy Series. In addition to that, Patrick Stewart is one of the nominees for Best Actor In A Science Fiction/Fantasy Series for his role as Jean-Luc Picard while Sonequa Martin-Green has been nominated for Best Actor In A Science Fiction / Fantasy Series.
While these awards are not yet a certain win, there's one honor that the franchise will be taking home for sure next year. Star Trek was named recipient of the Legacy Award, with Stewart and Martin-Green set to accept the award for the franchise.
The Critics Choice Super Awards will air on The CW on January 10, 2021.
