Mieruko-chan Episode 3 Recap
While on her way to meet Hana, Miko sees a ghost in the bus, who she initially mistakes for a regular passenger. She tries to ignore it by staring at her phone, but it's too close to her. When the driver asked if anyone was getting off at the next stop, she could not get off the bus due to fear. However, the ghost finally leaves her alone. Miko texts Hana that she's going to be late because she missed her stop.
Miko is the first to arrive. Across her is a young guy talking on the phone with his girlfriend. The guy thinks she's staring at him, but she is actually staring at the ghost beside him. He stares back at Miko, which catches the ghost's attention. The ghost starts walking towards Miko, saying, "he's mine". Miko looks at her phone, watching a wrestling match. She mumbles that she loves macho guys. The ghost stops being suspicious of her. When Hana shows up, Miko says that they should leave. The guy starts talking to Miko and asks if she wants to exchange phone numbers. Miko ignores him. The guy's girlfriend shows up, and Miko sees that obsessed ghosts also surround the girlfriend.
Miko buys four pieces of prayer beads, hoping that they will help ward off the ghosts. Hana starts asking Miko if prayer beads are a new trend, and Miko says yes. Remembering what happened to Hana, Miko hands two of her prayer beads to her. Hana says she'll treat her to some food — unfortunately, they have to pass through a dark alley to get to the shop. Miko is hesitant because the street is filled with ghosts, but they seem to be repelled by the prayer beads. However, when a bigger, scarier ghost shows up, her prayer beads snap. To prevent Hana from bumping into the ghost, she walks right through it even though she's terrified.
Miko and Hana go to a fortuneteller asking for strong prayer beads. The grandma was supposed to scam them, but when Miko put on the prayer beads, it snapped again. The giant ghost from the alley followed her. The grandma notices that Miko can see the ghosts, but Hana's aura is so strong that she will be fine even though she can't see any of these creatures. Even when the grandma gave Miko her strongest prayer beads, it still broke. With that incident, she has decided to stop scamming people.
