Michael Rooker Reveals How He Could Return in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

There is little doubt that the death of Yondu was the most depressing thing about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. But what are the chances that Michael Rooker will be back in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? The former Walking Dead star has just revealed that he could return in the highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe flick, but it's not going to be in the way most fans are hoping for.

Rooker was recently a guest on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaumpodcast where he was asked whether he is part of the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Not surprisingly, Rooker was quick to point out that Yondu is very, very dead.

"No way, I'm dead. I'm dead. My character is dead," Rooker said. However, he did offer an option on how he could get cast in the third Guardians of the Galaxy film.

"I would play something else, I wouldn't mind. I would play something else, but why would I want to play Yondu? Yondu had a wonderful, [the] most amazing sendoff that you would ever want in cinematic Marvel history," Rooker said.

We'll have to agree with Rooker on this one. As much as we would love to see more of Yondu, the character had one of the best story arcs in the MCU. His redemption was perfectly written and we wouldn't have it any other way. On the other hand, it would be interesting to see him play a completely different character in the upcoming James Gunn flick.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
