Michael Jai White Didn’t Like The Original Spawn Movie Either

It looks like original Spawn star Michael Jai White isn't quite fond of the first film adaptation of Todd McFarlane's comics either.

Released back in 1997, the original Spawn film adaptation had Michael Jai White as everyone's favorite Hellspawn together with John Leguizamo as The Violator and Nicol Williamson as Al Simmon's mentor. Though the film had pretty great practical make-up effects and visuals for its time, the Spawn movie had a terrible story and the film was bashed by both fans and critics.

Now, speaking in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, White revealed that even he didn't quite enjoy the outcome of Spawn.

"There is no footage of me ever saying that I liked Spawn. I have never said that I thought that was a good movie," the actor admitted when he spoke with the publication.

Sure White was one of the best things about the movie, but the actor knows a bad film when he sees one. Though the actor won't have the chance to redeem himself in the Spawn reboot that McFarlane is working on together with Blumhouse, there's a lot of hope that the new movie's going to be so much better the second time around. Not only does the film have the original comic book creator as its director, it also has a couple of pretty heavy-weight Hollywood names attached to it. While Jamie Foxx has been cast as Spawn himself, Marvel star Jeremy Renner has also been cast to play the human lead in the film, Twitch Williams.

Spawn doesn't have a release date yet but we'll let everyone know as soon as we get word.
