Michael Fassbender’s Magneto Rumored To Become A Religious Mutant Messiah In X-Men: Dark Phoenix

X-Men: Dark Phoenix still has a long way to go till it sees release, however it seems like spoilers and leaks continue to trickle out online as the film continues with production. The newest set of rumors involves Michael Fassbender's Magneto, suggesting that the mutant may be trying to form his own cult in the highly anticipated X-Men movie.

According to the Nerdist, an anonymous source that has been close to the film's production has just recently tipped off the publication with info on Fassbender's metal-controlling mutant. Not only will Erik Lehnsherr be forming his own cult in the movie, he'll also be getting a new wardrobe to go with his status as cult leader. The site speculates that this new cult could actually be the Acolytes, a mutant faction that had seen Magneto as a religious messiah in the X-Men comics.

But that's not all. The source also says that Dark Phoenix will be introducing the fictional country of Genosha, a small island that Magneto had seized control in the 90's and declared as a new homeland for mutants.

While becoming a religious figurehead and cult leader may feel like a huge change for Magneto, it's actually understandable that the powerful mutant will try to lead his own faction after X-Men: Apocalypse had Erik joining the cult-like group of Oscar Isaac's Apocalypse.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix makes its way to the big screen on November 2, 2018.
