Winter 24 is already off to a great start with lots of big shows premiering over the past week. Among these is Bones’ new sci-fi anime, which has gotten a lot of positive reactions. Aside from general praise, the Metallic Rouge anime is also getting some Lycoris Recoil comparisons.
These two shows aren’t exactly the same as Metallic Rouge is more of a cyberpunk sci-fi anime. Still, the comparisons make sense as there are some striking similarities between the two.
Thus, many are recommending the series to LycoReco fans, but even those who aren’t fans of the 2022 hit will still have a lot to love here.
Bones’ New Anime Is Getting a Great Response From Viewers
My Hero Academia studio Bones announced its original anime Metallic Rouge last year, and it is a big one for the studio. After all, it’s made to celebrate the studio’s 25th anniversary.
Even though it may not be as hyped as other Winter 24 titles like Solo Leveling and Delicious in Dungeon, this anime still has the potential to become one of the season’s top hits.
This proved to be the case following its recent premiere, at least based on the initial reactions.
Many viewers on platforms like Reddit drew comparisons to Blade Runner. This is no surprise given their shared premise of rebellious Androids being hunted. It also helps that the show’s world is cyberpunk.
Along with its setting and story, lots of praise has also been given to the fluid mecha animation, with many believing it to be 2D instead of 3D.

Metallic Rouge Is Already Getting Lycoris Recoil Comparisons
Aside from Blade Runner, Bones’ new anime is also being compared to Lycoris Recoil, the hit 2022 anime from A-1 Pictures.
LycoReco isn’t exactly a cyberpunk anime, but some fans think that Chisato and Takina give off a similar vibe to Metallic Rouge’s main duo. Some even noticed some similarities in the show’s openings.
There’s also the fact that both shows are original anime with sci-fi elements. Plus, the fact that there are two female leads makes it a nice break from other male-dominated action shows of the season.
Given the initial responses, there’s a chance that this new Bones anime will become a huge Winter 24 hit. For now, it remains to be seen if it can live up to that promise.
New episodes of Metallic Rouge are released every week on Crunchyroll with both Japanese and English language options.
