Metal Gear Solid Film Director Promises To Embrace Source Materials Supernatural Oddities

Metal Gear Solid gamers have nothing to worry about when it comes to the upcoming film adaptation of the video game series, because director Jordan Vogt-Roberts promises that he and his team are going to make sure that they make a movie that remains faithful to its roots.

Last month, the director went on an interview with Screen Rant at the 2018 San Diego Comic-Con International, and during his discussion with the publication, the filmmaker decided to open up about his plans for his upcoming Metal Gear Solid movie. Not only does the director want to remain faithful to the video game series, but he says that he wants to embrace all the strange and supernatural elements that make Metal Gear Solid what it is.

"You know the beauty of Metal Gear and the reason I give our producers and the studio a ton of credit is because I went in and said, 'Let's embrace the fact that this is weird.' Let's embrace the fact that there are supernatural elements to this game that are horror elements to this game. Let's embrace the fact that there are weird Japanese quirkiness and idiosyncrasies and oddities that are all framed around this very self-serious world and let's lean into those things and let's have it be unique and unlike anything else because it represents those things and let's have the rest of the world fall in love with it because of that as opposed to trying to make it something else."

It's interesting to hear that Vogt-Robert is willing to embrace and feature all the video games different quirks in his film. Most film adaptations of video games try to skip out the oddities of its source material, and with characters like the 1998 Metal Gear Solid Psycho Mantis, it isn't difficult to understand why.

It might end up being a bit corny and cheesy, but hey, if fans couldn't help but love all the different quirks in Kung Fury, so why not in the Metal Gear Solid movie?

Metal Gear Solid doesn't have a release date just yet but we'll let everyone know as soon as we get word.
