Rumors about Mamma Mia, Don't Look Up, and Only Murders in the Building star Meryl Streep joining the MCU wouldn't be considered a new thing in 2024.
However, with more Marvel projects coming out in the following years, Marvel Studios casting director Sarah Halley Finn didn't play around and went out with it.
If given the chance, Sarah recently told Variety she would love to have Meryl Streep in the franchise. When asked who Meryl could be playing in Marvel, Sarah's words were simple, "Anything she wants."
She plays coy on whether Marvel Studios already has a role prepared for the 75-year-old actress, "Maybe. But we haven't found the right role [yet]." Though they have considered approaching her, as Finn relayed her "love" for the Meryl Streep. You can check out the full interview below:
While it remains to be seen what MCU role would be perfect for Meryl Streep, fans previously had their own hopes on which hero or villain suit they would want her to do.
Some of whom happen to be Madame Web, older variants of Scott and Hope in another Ant-Man film, and Mephisto, the Monarch of Evil. But if these were the choices, then Mephisto could be one of the best fits, when the time calls for it, as Finn said.
As for what plans fans can look forward to upon Robert Downey Jr.'s return to Avengers: Doomsday as the titular major villain Doctor Doom, all Finn has to say is, "I cannot talk about that! I think it is magnificent and earth-shattering and great."
