We just got an awesome update about the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie, thanks to the first official teaser for the highly anticipated anime film. In addition to the video, it was also confirmed that legendary voice actor Megumi Ogata will play Okkotsu Yuta in the manga adaptation. The casting was certainly an awesome surprise, and Ogata herself admits she did not expect to land the role.
On Friday, the official teaser for Jujutsu Kaisen 0 The Movie was dropped along with an announcement that Ogata will lead the film. Since then, the Neon Genesis Evangelion star has issued a statement about her involvement in the adaptation and confessed that the manga was initially confusing to her.
"I was super surprised when I got the offer! To suddenly get such a huge role for a hot topic show like Jujutsu Kaisen...?!" Ogata said.
"I was a bit confused when I read the manga, but it was really interesting so I binge-read all of the manga in one go, from Volume 0 to the latest volume, and then binge-watched the anime," she continued. "I groaned out loud after I finished watching. What charming but complex characters. What kind of approach would be best to voice him...?"
It's great to know that Ogata is going out of her way to truly understand Yuta in an effort to bring him to life properly. With that in mind, there is little doubt she will be able to do so and we can't wait to hear Ogata as Yuta in Jujutsu Kaisen 0 The Movie.
Creator Gege Akutami also spoke about Ogata's casting. The mangaka pointed out that they envisioned "neutral, softness, kindness, and a large range of emotional fluctuations" when it came to Yuta. However, they thought everything was perfect when Ogata was confirmed for the role.
For now, we have yet to see a full trailer for Jujutsu Kaisen 0 The Movie. However, there is a possibility that this will be released within the next few months. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
Gekijō-ban Jujutsu Kaisen 0 or Jujutsu Kaisen 0 The Movie is based on Akutami's series that was a prequel to the main manga. It follows Yutaas he is plagued by his childhood friend Rika who has turned into a Curse. With the help of Satoru Gojo, Yuta learns about a school for fledgling exorcists and tries to figure out how to rid himself of the Curse.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 The Movie is scheduled for release in Japan on December 24, 2021.
