Meghan Markle continues receiving criticisms over every single thing that she does. In fact, immediately after her relationship with Prince Harry was confirmed to the world, critics already questioned their relationship for the simple reason that she’s bi-racial. Others also accused her of using Prince Harry because of his royal status.
Meghan Markle admitted during her interview with Oprah Winfrey that the criticisms became too much to handle at one point. In fact, she and Prince Harry decided to quit The Firm, thinking that this would put an end to all the negative statements being thrown at her. Unfortunately, this isn’t what happened.
Stella Parton Defends Prince Harry, Meghan Markle From Their Critics
But just recently, Dolly Parton’s sister, Stella Parton, came to the Duchess of Sussex’s defense. She also said that Markle’s wedding guests may have been jealous of the fact that she ended up with Prince Harry. That’s why some of them have been talking negatively about her.
“When those kids walked into that church everyone was jealous and treated Harry and his gorgeous, talented, brilliant wife like outcasts. I smell jealousy a mile away,” she said (via Cheat Sheet).
Stella also claimed that Prince Harry’s critics are convinced that he committed a mortal sin for the simple reason that he married someone like Markle.
“I don’t blame Harry for manning up and getting his family away from that toxic waste heap. Harry committed a cardinal sin, he married a mixed-ace, beautiful, American woman. Had he chosen a wife as his father did, no one would have had a problem,” she said.

Prince Harry Asks Reporters To Stop Attacking Meghan Markle
Prior to Prince Harry and Markle’s royal wedding, the former’s communication secretary released a letter urging the different publications to stop attacking the latter because of her race and skin color.
“His girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public - the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments,” the letter stated.
Prince Harry also expressed his concerns and worry over Markle’s safety and admitted that he was upset he wasn’t able to protect her.
“It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm. He knows commentators will say this is ‘the price she has to pay and that ‘this is all part of the game.’ He strongly disagrees. This is not a game - it is her life and his,” the letter read.
Meghan Markle’s Acting Career Helped Her Stay Calm Under Pressure
But despite all the criticisms that they received, Prince Harry and Markle remained strong and committed to each other. In fact, they even attended the queen’s Platinum Jubilee with their heads up high even though they were booed outside the church.
While speaking with Us Weekly, etiquette coach Myka Meier said that the Duchess of Sussex’s previous acting career must have helped her stay calm during her royal engagements, as well as the Platinum Jubilee.
“I think her background as an actress probably helps her. I think she keeps her cool. I can't even imagine what the pressure would feel like at that moment and being booed. I think she handled herself beautifully. I think, you know, looking at the footage and looking at the photos, it can't be easy. You know, taking it in and realizing she's technically on a stage in so many ways. [And] maybe it's using what she learned [as an actress] and how-to, you know, keep her composure that really kept her looking calm and cool, even if she didn't feel it. I thought she did fantastically,” Meier said (via Express).
